you're building an integration with a company and you look at their API docs and they don't have web hooks for the event that you want to automate based on. What are we going to do, right? There's a bunch of different options. One of them is polling, but that stinks. Polling stinks. Back in the day, we did this thing where we would use an inbound email as part of our notification. Set up an email address. We were getting an email, oh, your account has been created or whatever. And then we would parse the contents of the email and use that as our inbound web hook notification. At the time it was kind of wild that we were doing this. There's so many cool new ways that you could handle inbound email though. Resend, awesome email provider. Love the folks over there. They also just introduced email as web hook. So now you can set up web hook notification for inbound emails that you're receiving. Another option is action mailbox which is now in Rails. So you can set up a pretty standardized way to receive emails.
