okay super interesting issue here with the chrome debugger um i'm actually looking at someone else's site here trying to help them out a little bit but we have this function get public stripe key and uh it's when when the page loads it makes this call which uses fetch and then when when the promise for fetch resolves it passes this response parameter and we should use this response argument to access status so if i refresh the page what's super weird is that it breaks in here and in the chrome debugger i can see hey look here's the response and its status is 200 and so this should match up fine and i can hover over a response and i can see response but when i go in the console and type res.status it says res is not defined i know it's like not we're not on the window or anything but like while i'm in the debugger i'm used to being able to just kind of like um poke around at those variables but this is even weirder when i click continue we enter into this return block so we're supposed to be calling the json function which is going to return a promise that when resolved we should enter the next dot then but what's crazy is that when i hit play it's actually going to jump into this other return block so watch this so now i'm jumping into this other return block and it just blows my mind because i expect it to return out of this anonymous function this arrow function it should be returning out of that and then either going into like a catch block or another dot then so what's weird is that it seems like something magic is happening inside of this json call but i don't think it is and because we have this break on 61 it's not like it's saying something crazy like let's retry this whole function or something so we just go into the null and now if i click play then we don't ever make it into the then i assume it should be handled by some catch but i don't think it's related to this um content security policy thing that's happening here but um yeah just like really surprising behavior of the debugger so wanted to share
